Document legalisation
Documents ready to cross borders.
Apostille and document legalisation support for personal, academic and business documents used overseas.
Who we support
People moving.
Business continuing.
HR and mobility teams, corporate secretariats and individuals preparing business, academic or personal documents for overseas use.
The challenge
A document accepted in the UK may require certification, an apostille or embassy legalisation abroad. The correct sequence depends on the document and its intended recipient.
How Visas2 helps
Personal review.
A considered way forward.
We help clarify the receiving authority’s requirements and coordinate preparation in the right order. This supports document readiness for a project or assignment without assuming that one process fits every country.

A clear process
From preparation to the next step.
- 01
Identify the destination
Explain where the document will be used and which organisation will receive it.
- 02
Review the document
Establish whether an original, certified copy or notarisation is required.
- 03
Coordinate legalisation
Prepare the appropriate apostille and any embassy steps for the intended use.
- 04
Confirm readiness
Review the completed document against the requirements communicated by its recipient.
Apostille and embassy legalisation
An apostille issued by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) authenticates an eligible UK document for use overseas. Depending on the destination and document, embassy legalisation may also be required. We help establish the appropriate process for your intended use.
Notarisation and preparation
Some documents need certification or notarisation before legalisation. Our team can help identify the preparation steps and coordinate the relevant support, based on the document and the receiving authority’s requirements.
Common documents
We assist with academic certificates, civil certificates, business contracts, incorporation documents, powers of attorney and export documents. Requirements differ by destination and by the organisation receiving the document.
A case-by-case approach
Timing and fees vary with the document, preparation needed and authorities involved. These are confirmed case-by-case. No fixed processing time is guaranteed.
Visas2 is an independent service provider, not an embassy or government body. Acceptance and legalisation decisions rest with the relevant authorities.
Important questions.
Clear answers.
Is an apostille always enough?
Not necessarily. Requirements depend on the destination, document and receiving organisation. Embassy legalisation may also be required.
Does legalisation guarantee acceptance?
No. Authentication and acceptance are different questions. The receiving authority determines whether the document meets its requirements.
